The “Generational Pivot” Story

Meet Ramesh Kumar, a third-generation potter from a small village cluster in Khurja. For years, his family sold basic clay pots for pennies at local weekly markets. As cheap, imported plastic/melamine flooded the market, his family considered abandoning the wheel for low-wage labor in cities.

Refusing to let the ancestral fire in his kiln go cold, Ramesh decided to modernize. He realized that the world didn’t want just another clay pot; it wanted Indian soul with global utility.

He transitioned his workshop by:

 Moving from traditional pits to high-temperature electric kilns that ensured his stoneware was microwave-safe and chip-resistant. And, Swapping the traditional loud glazes for the minimalist, matte, and “earthy luxury” textures currently trending in European and American markets.
